Our Story

Humble Beginning. Bright Future.

From Barstools to Bottle Shops.

Becoming a Minnesota Staple

Our story begins back in 1979, when the Feuling family purchased the West Side Bar in Little Falls. The bar came with an off-sale inventory worth $200 (about $850 today). Customers weren’t too keen on going to a bar to buy whole liquor bottles, so the Feulings opened a separate store. That small shop quickly developed into a 6,500-square-foot store. Then, in 1991, they moved into a former grocery store west of Crossroads Center. The business kept growing, so the Feulings purchased a 20,000-square-foot building, which continues to be Westside Liquor’s biggest revenue driver to this day.

Westside just kept growing from there. In 1998, we brought our business to the east side of St. Cloud and opened a store in Sauk Centre, which quickly became a favorite for locals and Twin Cities residents looking for unbeatable prices and a better selection. Today, Westside Liquor is still proudly family-owned and Minnesota-grown, and our mission remains the same: offer a huge selection, fair prices, and friendly service you can count on.

Honoring Bob Feuling: A Legacy of Leadership and Dedication

Bob Feuling, once a dairy farmer and award-winning dairy equipment salesman, built his legacy at Westside Liquor with the same dedication and hard work that defined his early career. He began his days at dawn, handling bookkeeping tasks, and could often be found visiting the stores—so frequently that even customers knew him by name.

His wife, Linda, continues to carry that same energy, frequently visiting the Waite Park, Sartell, St. Cloud, Rice, and Little Falls locations. Together, Bob and Linda always prioritized supporting their employees and customers, whether it meant stocking shelves, helping with carry-outs, or providing friendly service.

Thanks to the Feulings’ leadership, Westside Liquor has grown into a tight-knit team of loyal, long-time employees who share a deep commitment to customer service. From carrying out large purchases to studying trade publications during breaks to better assist customers, the team embodies the work ethic Bob inspired.

“My people know they have to do better than our competition,” Bob often said.

Bob’s legacy lives on through his family, including his two daughters and one son, who continue to play active roles in the business. Bob believed in leading like a great coach—always present, always listening, and always pushing for excellence.

“A coach doesn’t go home. He stays for every minute of the game, and he coaches up to the last minute of the game,” Bob once shared. “The coach listens to his players—to their problems and what they’re thinking—and then he has to make some decisions.”

Bob’s enduring spirit and philosophy continue to guide Westside Liquor today, shaping the future of the family business and the community it serves.
